This service, also referred to as a Blue Christmas Service, will be held here on Wednesday, December 20, at 7:00 p.m. With the dwindling daylight of December days and the coming of the winter solstice (the longest night of the year), we are reminded that the good news of the nativity arrives for us during the darkest season.
Also for many, the holiday season is a bittersweet time. Loss or change of any sort can cause the holidays to fall hard on our shoulders. To honor and mark both the joyous light of this season and the holy darkness in which it shines, we will gather together for worship and ritual that speaks of God’s great news in Jesus Christ that is given to a beautiful but broken-hearted world.
We mark this solemn and sacred time with simple songs, loving words and the lighting of prayer candles. Please invite someone you know who might want or need this service to come with you.
