
Meet Zoe Vandermeer, WCC’s Organist/Choir Director! Ms. Vandermeer, who has extensive experience as a church music director, choral director, multi-keyboardist, opera singer, and voice teacher: Zoe Vandermeer is a dramatic coloratura soprano, harpist, pianist, organist, composer, and music director. She is a prize-winning graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and was named to the Roster of the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism in 2011. Ms. Vandermeer has performed internationally, and in 2014, she enjoyed her Carnegie Hall debut as First Place Winner of the B. Alexander International Vocal Competition. Ms. Vandermeer is the 2021 Global Music Awards Bronze Medal Award Winner, and has been a recipient of numerous scholarships and grants. Ms. Vandermeer is a recording artist and 2022 is slated for the release of her soprano/harp albums for Centaur Records. Ms. Vandermeer has directed youth choirs, adult choirs, handbell ensembles, and baroque ensembles from the piano, harpsichord and organ, and has been music director for numerous children’s musical theatre productions. Ms. Vandermeer trains singers and speakers, and teaches piano and harp. As a composer, her most notable achievement is her original ‘Musical Fairy Tale’, which has often been compared to Phantom of the Opera, Secret Garden, Narnia, and Harry Potter. Ms. Vandermeer is a California native. Her hobbies are sailing, horses, and harps, and she lives in West Hartford with her menagerie of lounging kitties and a beautiful sun conure.
